So what's not working about Hide Muted Clips in that scenario?

the fact that you gotta mute all your clips first.

The Comp tool automatically mutes everything you don't select to be active; there should be no need to individually mute clips in most cases.

Not with MIDI.  When you go to PRV - all notes are still there

Please tell me what I am missing here:
1. Set Loop selection for 4 bars.
2. Turn on Comping mode for recording.
3. Record 3 takes of MIDI data.
4. Heal any split clips and slip edit clips so that all are the same length.
5. Use comp tool to select desired take.
6. Open PRV and set View > Hide Muted Clips.

I am only seeing the notes in the selected take as Dave (brundlefly) is saying.

So I can understand the problem better, what are you doing that is different that the steps above?

Ok that DOES work, i wasn't using the comping tool.  I guess this could do the trick.   I have to play around some more.  Thanks!

Glad I could help.

FWIW, I do think MIDI comping needs improvement.  For example, each clip created for each take should automatically extend for the entire duration of the loop when loop recording.  That would eliminate the heal and slip edit steps in my procedure.

Works as SquireBum says!

But.....not to cross this up thread too much here, there is no such command to "View > Hide Muted Clips" in the Staff View. What I previously wrote post #3, is my way of dealing with all the notes, from all the takes, all showing up in the Staff View.

Which has likely been mentioned in the very long   "No Notation Fixes" thread.

How about moving only the flattened comp to a new track, rather than moving all the unused clips?  It's almost the same as your suggestion in #3, but it seems that moving only the one comp take would be less effort and leave all of the original takes in place.

Good idea just moving the comp track. In fact copying the comp track it to a new track sounds
like the way to go. Archive the original comp with all it's lanes intact for use later if needed.

Still, I'd like a View> Hide Muted Clips available in the Staff View.
