Hello, all. This is such beginner crap that I am ashamed to even post it but I generally don't bother with bouncing effects within a project. I need to now and although I CAN do it and it is working it is not working the way I expected it to. I'm just checking to see if I am missing something... and yes I've been RTFM about it.
Simple explanation: I have set up a noise reduction FX chain for my guit tracks (this is related to the thread I posted a few days ago which I will update shortly). Due to the CPU intensive nature of the FX involved I need to apply/print this effect directly to each clip one clip at a time. There are six tracks that need this done to with two takes/clips in each track. So I need to repeat this process twelve times.
For some reason I thought I might be able to just use bounce to clips to make this happen but that's only for combining clips. Not applying effects. The correct process is Bounce to Track which does a mixdown of the audio including effects. Should be simple... and in theory it is.
However what I wanted to do was have the bounce appear in the original track within a new Take Lane. That way it is exactly where I want it and I don't have to a) add to my track count and b) copy the OTHER effects and settings I am not bouncing (this is just for Noise Reduction on an otherwise dry clip which will then be processed further with other effects on teh tracks).
In the Bounce to Tracks dialog I select the original track as the destination yet instead of creating a new clip within that track it creates a completely new track.
So is there some trick or setting I am missing to bouncing/printing my FX to a new clip within the original track?
I could have sworn this was possible and the BtT dialog implies that it SHOULD bounce into whatever track I want but it ain't workin'. Maybe I encountered a bug in Platinum?
Anyhoo... kind of frustrating so any help/advice would be great. Otherwise I guess I'll just let it create new tracks and deal with it.
Thanks.
