Hi Guys,

Anyone using the Softube Mix Bundle willing to share opinions?

I quite fancy additional HQ modules for the ProChannel but price is a bit steep in Cake store.

Any way to demo?
Are there discounts on components or bundle occasionally?

I will post a little more when home, but the short answer is. that I do like it, and it does occasionally go on sale, but not often.

I will post my thoughts on the individual modules when I get to a proper keyboard.

They provide a demo so why not give them a try.

I got the Mix Bundle when the ProChannel was new and the notion of having regular plugins in the PC was new.

Mix Bundel came on the heels of the Saturation knob which was a PC freebie. What I thought was going to be a continuing relationship with Softube didn't turn out that way and Mix bundle was the beginning and end of it.
There are lots of great plugins that do what the Mix Bundle does but the fact that it's available in the ProChannel is its biggest advantage, if you would like to use only PC modules.
Softube has a great reputation and it's well earned. Remeber though that what I think is a great plugin may not be what you think. That's one of the reasons I've kept away from anything too specific.
Don't forget you'll need an iLok.

FYI they do not need a dongle any more.

The FET compressor is very nice - many seem to prefer it to the PC76.  I used it a lot at first (you could date my projects by which new plugins I had bought at the time ), but now seem to fall back on the PC76 more.  This may be out of habit, though.

The EQs are great - I still use the QuadCurve most of the time, but do use the Passive or Active EQs if I can't dial in the sound I want.

Having more than one EQ in the ProChannel is fantastic - e.g. being able to EQ before and after a compressor.

The Focusing EQ can be handy to dial in a track quickly.

The TSAR-1R reverb sound really nice, and simple to use, but I still seem to use Breverb (and now Rematrix)  more.

I also find that I use the vst versions a lot, as some of them have more options than the PC modules.  They have some good presets, too, if you want some good starting points.

All in all, I like and use them all.  I am not sure if I would have paid full price, but that may be as I have a young family and a wife who reads the credit card bill.

Hey, thanks for the feedback.

I should indeed demo the plugs but demo only works via iLok (according to softtube site) which I don't have (had no need so far).

Interesting ... ProChannel modules or the entire mix bundle (VST3?) ...??P

Im really pleased with them. The FET compressor is so good and takes very little effort to get a great sound. The TSAR reverb sounds top notch on acoustic guitars. I have played a little with the eqs but I find it hard to stray from the prochannel eq because thats great for me.

I was backwards and forwards between having the cakewalk bundle and softubes. I havent been disappointed yet, but next birthday I might jump at the cakewalk bundle. I used the demo CA2A compressor on Craig's tutorial and I was amazed at the punch.

I just love new gear

I have the bundle and use its various pieces quite often. The TSAR reverb is quite good and easy to use. I like the Focusing EQ quite a bit. The FET compressor really has character.

I would normally recommend if you get the Softtube Mix Bundle that you also get this tutorial from Groove 3:
http://www.groove3.com/str/mixing-with-sonar.html

It's called Mixing With Sonar. It's a great tutorial on mixing techniques using Sonar X1. The majority of that tutorial content still is relevant even using Sonar Platinum. That tutorial happens to use the Softtube Mix Bundle a lot throughout the tutorial chapters and provides great demos and tutorials on how to use each of the bundle's tools. The reason I'm not underlining why you should get that tutorial today is that it is presently sold at full price, or $30. It has been available for much less at various times over the last year. If you have the annual pass I'd suggest watching it.

The entire mix bundle.  You still need to sign into an ilock account, but don't need a dongle.  I would not have bought it if it needed a dongle.

The softube bundle is excellent and both the EQs and Fet com give a different flavor to the Cake PC stuff.  The reverb was the cat's meow, as far as I was concerned.  But as much as I like it, it is kind of redundant these days with Nomad and overloud's stuff.  I like Overloud's reverbs as well as TSAR.  The FET is a little more 1176 than the PC unit, but not hardware.  The focusing EQ I use a lot - easy to find quality sound and I use it to distinguish vocals as opposed to all the PC EQ elsewhere.  And the Passive EQs do sound and react slightly different than anything Cake offers.

All that being said, it is worthwhile if you get it on sale.  Otherwise, there are things on sale through Cake that are more useful.  REmatrix (the full version) is killer.  You won't really get a better reverb unless you spend a lot more money on hardware.  That is where I'd put my money.  You'll hear that more than slightly different digital EQs.
