I also think I am the only musician/studio I know (in the Portland "indie" scene) that uses a PC. Everyone is on Mac. I have to always bring my Mac laptop to the studio for file transfers when working with other artists. The sessions are usually in Pro Tools, so I end up just working in Pro Tools more when collaborating/mixing/etc...

I'm in Portland - on PC running Sonar Platinum.  I run Cakewalk / Sonar from about '92 - first product was Guitar tracks.

Come say hi

Hi, Sonar Platinum is the best pro Daw for me,but Cake have never done a right relationships with the third parts developers.
You can see,for instance, many hardware and controllers brands that advertise tested with, template of........but almost never i see Sonar....

I can't agree with the first part as I am a 3rd party dev and Cake has been great to me.

So the later part, 3rd parties not developing to work w/ Sonar has to be for one of the other reasons sited by the OP in my opinion. ;-)

What I think is that cakewalk was Greg's garage product and while successful, is a stigma that cake cant still shake. Like Sears will never be cool, - oh and now Microsoft too. No matter how many times they "break up the band" and reform..... no.

We all love em anyways so who cares hu? :-)

No one can tell which DAW was used to make a record. As far as workflow and features go, you can make a reasonable case for any of the major DAWS. Why do posts like this keep showing up unless they are from people with agendas?

I have used CW DAWs for a long time. They do what I need them to do and more.

Don't care if they are the industry standard. Or if they are judged to be the best by a majority of the industry.

The fact remains I use what I want with no regard to what another uses.

I've tracked lots of sessions in Mac Pro Tools, but then I would always take the WAV files and bring them into SONAR for adult editing.

I know you know such statements can damage your reputation as THE AUTHORITY for all things audio.

No doubt a lapse of judgment brought on by the great taste of Founders Black Rye beer.

There are some good responses to the OP here, but I see the potential for it degrading, so I'm bringing it to a close now.
