I am an OP- you mean thread title cant be edited? Then why would it have option to edit it?

Editing threads can set of the spam blocker. When the spam blocker deletes an OP, the entire thread goes with it. Apparently post editing has been used in the past to introduce spam. The spam blocker is administered by the company. Hosts have no control over the process but we can restore posts deleted in error.

Hey there

I dont see any discussion about installation of Cakewalk by Bandlab. Will the Command Center be used? Do we just install Cakewalk again besides the Sonar? Any issues with it?

Let me clarify: so Cakewalk is Freeware for everybody to download without limits? Will there be paid version? Not that I want to pay for it but this makes it unprofessional if anybody in the world can get it for free. So- yes, I like to pay and have exclusive features for paid clients. I cant take freeware seriously. Can you?

Here we go again. "I dont see any discussion about installation of Cakewalk by Bandlab" Then you didn't look very far. There has been nothing but the same questions over and over again. If you look through the threads you will find loads of them.

"but this makes it unprofessional... ...I cant take freeware seriously. Can you?" A lot of pro CG artists take Blender seriously. Cakewalk is the same software as Sonar. The coding hasn't changed, but now it's free. It's as serious as it ever was and the fact that it will now attract a whole load more users means it will be better supported too. There are plenty of paid alternatives available if you don't like the new business model that is rescuing Cakewalk from extinction.

This is not Facebook. Every question posed so far in this thread has been discussed repeated. Rather than starting yet another thread, reading the BandLab announcements and recent threads may prove instructive.

Either install and use the DAW or find something else. The b*tching and moaning from people who want to inform the world of the grave injustice which has been inflicted upon them now that it's free is getting right on my mammaries. I can't even begin to imagine how shrill these people must get in the face of a real injustice.

Hi Vlada,
My REAL Job is as an Architect. ( Not I.T but real Architect - buildings)
In this role, I have to admit.......I have never been asked by a client "Do you pay for your CAD software"?
Clients are attracted by professional skill, reputation & results ............not by the tools I use.
In corporate / govt. interactions, the main thing I must watch is that the drawing files are compatible with key CAD players esp. Autocad .   This ensures relatively seamless distribution among project stakeholders.
For DAWs, I believe /expect that ProTools , in respect to pro studio sharing, would be the yardstick in this regard,
( Rightly or Wrongly) .
However, Quality Assurance guarantees should mostly be concerned with performance outcomes.

Vlada,
Your query also Begs the question 'When does a DAW become 'UNPROFESSIONAL' ?
  • When It Is Not Pro Tools?
  • When It Costs Less Than ( Please fill In The Blank) $.................?
  • When It Costs Less Than Reaper , MixBus OR Samplitude (ie: During one of their  Magnificent Sales) ?
  • When It Is Free ( such as  Cakewalk by Bandlab )
We all have concerns about things being offered for free.It looks 'Dodgy','Cheap' etc
(ie: "Nothing Comes For Free...check the fine print again" !!!)
and such concerns are truly warranted.
However Vlada , If I May..........Please consider the following:
  • The World Is Truly Changing ....and Very Rapidly.  Generation X,Y,Z and now A2........look at this world in a radically different light to that of many of us who have untold 'years of wisdom under the belt' so to speak.     ENTER - Meng Ru Kuok - 30 Years old - Who Is in a marvelously, tactful position to Feel, Empathize and Appropriately respond to the needs of the upcoming ( HIS) generations. Additionally, His Vision and Enthusiasm will likely ensure that the DAW we all know and love will live on,develop and (May I Suggest) completely overwhelm the DAW market. His vision , I truly believe, will be the 'NORM' by 2020.
  • I Suggest,  By 2025 , Payment for Service will be very different to that we currently /generally  endorse. Free operational software will be 'Expected' as part of your service.                                                                                             (ie: In 2020 ..... "Everyone else is providing the core software for free...............why should I pay you for this core software" ?)
  • By 2025 , I expect, (respectfully)  few will be paying for any form of core software. It will be broadly considered a naturally, shared resource in which the providers/maintainers of such core software can harvest additional rewards, by provision of beneficial Add-Ons.
        Just My Nostaldamus ;)

        Best Regards........Frank in OZ
