  • Sending bundle (cwb) from PC to Mac?

I sent a Cakewalk bundle (.cwb file) to another studio where piano was to be added. However, I got this message back:

"Can't open file. Must be Windows. All Macs here".

Can this be right? Surely files in a CWB can be imported into Sonar regardless of what OS they were created on?

Please advise,

Thanks!

If they run Sonar they have some Windows running.

But I had plenty issues moving stuff from Windows to Mac - overall. Even machines that have bridges for windows in networks. This sending postscript files for printing to printshops etc.

So renaming extensions of files make a big difference - how a Mac handle them. All kinds of conversions was going on depending on how file was named - extension and so.

So one thing to try may be to rename file, or ensure they run email on windows or something to receive it.
If on usb - import running the windows on Mac.

Thanks. I don't get it.

I just saved voice and guitar wav files to a cwb bundle. After saving to his hard drive, should this not open in his Sonar X2?

If it's the same disc partition as Mac is using I wouldn't count on it - it may save it as something completely different doing conversions.

As I understood, your quote was from other studio, right?

So how exactly do they run Windows?
How exactly do they receive your stuff?
If stored on Mac partition first - anything could happend to it.

Damn, it's more trouble than it's worth. The guy who recorded the voice and acoustic guitar says he can't afford to pay much but the the piano-player in the 'Mac only' studio is getting paid!

.cwb files are a proprietary Cakewalk standard for compressing Sonar Projects.
.wav files are a Windows standard for PCM audio files.

For Sonar to be run on a Mac it still needs to run Windows OS through Parallels or Bootcamp, a Mac virtualisation program.
