I wonder if any other Sonarites have experienced these kinds of issues before.

Not here, no problems at all, all working fine.

Are you using the latest versions of the waves plugs ? version 9+, VST3 ?
Where is Sonar's VST scan pointing to in regards your Waves stuff ?
Is your Waves installation to default locations ?

I have no problem with my Waves plugins, and I have a few. They work well in both my Sonar Pro and Reaper DAW... and Reaper isn't officially licensed to do so with Waves. My question to you is this: What version of Waves are you using? 9.2 is the latest version. Some of thier plugins in the older versions are not updated within the said version. Like others have advised, I would call Waves support because your problem isn't a Sonar one. I have the Musicians Bundle, C6 Multiband and the Vocals Bundle. As well as a few CLA plugs and a couple of the Eddie Kramer guitar plugins. No problem whatsoever. Call Waves support.

Sir Les
I Had a issue a few weeks back with v8r install, and Sonar/win 8.1 and Waves v8r...freezing up Sonar Platinum BT1 on startup scanning.

I got the v9 update for the issue of freezing when opening sonar on them v8r Plugs, but had issues with ilok + and v8r and upgrades in Waves Plugins, as is, is no longer supporting usb dongle with ilok...or usb hard drive, that may have a installed old licence on my system ....Which was solved by unplugging the usb HD drives ,  from my system, just to make sure.

Could be when getting the transfer of the licence to a new "usb memory stick" ( the remote tech put on the licences for v9 ), or other none usb drive (was a choice he gave me), seemed a issue could be with usb and older versions?... With the remote tech who went into my system, removed all old 8vr references and dlls, and such, and then installed the new v9 upgrades...The old licences are still on the usb dongle, perhaps caused confusion with me here, and we got it sorted by removing them from there also...

, until i remove V8r licences from the usb HD drive through Ilok? (which removed all my licences from the usb dongle, to the cloud, and then put em back, by my command, with out any waves licences on that dongle...wink...As Sonar may still see something in ilok or HD usb of the old plugs, if you do not do this  complete removal of the old?.

I now find the V9 plugs in Sonar, and are working good when the usb HD is disconnected, as I have not as yet reconnected it to see if it still has licences on it to be removed as of yet...But perhaps by next week it will be checked out on ilok to see....(cannot say it is completely solved yet...I need my backup drive portable).....

I wonder if networking a drive for all connected to the network could hold all licences for all machines...would it cause issues in win 8.1 and Sonar/audio.

.

So Waves support , with remote viewing, if you cannot sort it out....Is fantastic with that support!

Not sayin this is your solution, but I know it is confusing me all these updates....and things get muddled up all by them selves when you do update.....I sware!...lol

Cheers and Regards!

I have had problems with Waves but only when adding or updating plugins and usually pilot error caused by not reading instructions. Waves support was great on one issue, prompt and accurate reply to email tech questions.

Sir Les
Put v8r installer exe on a drive, run it, it works for over one year, and then,... something changes with daw revisions...oh no pilot error.....Right....lol..., mudgel....Then everything needs a update,...oh lookie here, more MS updates after all is thought done,... who would of thunk I could of thought such a thought?....round and round we go....us pilots surely fly in circles, and pay more each time we complete a circuit, so moe error occurs wit dat...I say!...wink

OT but sort of in topic,,  Now my new v9 waves plugs do not work good in my older 32 bit software.(Acid Pro 7e)( I just love to loop loops in that, and make drum plots with L2 maximizer)..So I do not use it in that DAW any more, as it eventually crashes when used....( Acid pro is no longer supported by Sony updates for some time now)..But you see the forced path of updates ..was to fix bugs in the software/os/drivers, once upon a time...now it is a path to cause mid air collisions with pilots running out of gas, having to land, and buy something to replace the old, with da new...but the ground crew keeps shortening and putting curves in the runway...Thank god for battery powered solar infused outer hull upgrade i did do in my delusional thinking it would save me money....worth every virtual dollar....to always need a update, seems more in tune to something deviously lurking behind the idea to need em....in the first place was to fix something....oh yah pilots.....sorry  just had to..go on without landing...lol

What is that man smoking? I don't want any, I just want to know so I can stay away from it.

When the nurse arrives Jeff, will you send them to me as well.

Sir Les
ok  OK....no need to call in the warden.....i'll stop jousting.... only, if they stop updating everything to need updates all the damn time.., and get the standards standardized, so no nurses are needed for the crashed and burnt out pilots!....lol.

Again sorry for the fun flying circles, but seriously this is kind of R&D..and we never get paid with a bugless Daw usage....why?...

You know this is not new technology...1989 - 2015 ...they have been developing Digital audio on varied platforms...and they all (those still playing the game) are now fixing to charge for yearly continued updates.....So you plot it out, and keep asking for Nurses, who will charge for the green pill to counter the red and blue ones they ask us to swallow before getting onboard...I spit mine out...you should of also...oh well, back to the update Posting mayham, and the original reason we are here...is for...but humor is good to lighten the spirits, without aviation fuel.

You gave me a good laugh Sir Les, it's ok, only joking as well. I do enjoy reading your posts, they do take you away to another place, you just keep on being 'Sir Les', and humor is indeed good to lighten the spirits.
