I'm gradually making the shift from using the default Cakewalk data location to storing my audio with my project. I have a new computer with an SSD drive (240GB) and a separate drive for data (2TB). I see three possible options and was wondering what approach others have taken. Which option do you use?
 
(1) Project file on SSD but all audio data on second drive
(2) Project file and data all on SSD, but move to second drive when project done
(3) Project file and data all on second drive

FWIW......I keep all of my project files and data on drives other than the C:\ drive.  I reserve that drive for OS and SONAR (with recommended key files).  I keep project files and audio on a D:\ drive and all of my libraries on a third E:\ drive.  This works really well for me.  I think the prevailing advice from the forum members would be to try to keep your C:\ drive as clean as possible.  Best of luck with your decision!

There is no performance advantage storing audio files separate from the project files so #1 is a nonstarter. I would see if #3 worked adequately, it would eliminate the extra maintenance step in option #2. Use per-project audio files. The default layout will create a portable project folder for each project containing the project file(s), version file(s), autosave file, a MixScreens folder and an Audio folder. This will make project maintenance easier regardless of the disk strategy.

Thanks Dave, Bob and Scook for your input. I like your setup Dave with the three drives - a good future option for me! As you suggest Scook, I think keeping them all together is the best option.
