As far as I know, the count-in issue always makes audio late, whereas the issue in this case was with audio being laid down early.

I have metronome turned off.  Don't use it.  Count ins are by voice.
Same configuration I've had since I started using Sonar (V7) and never had a problem until this incident with Platinum.

Some more testing this morning.  I can duplicate it every time with Platinum.  I tried it with my Roland Studio-Capture and then with my Roland Octa-Capture.

However, I tried it with X3 and it DOES NOT do it.  So, its a valid problem with Platinum.

I only have the problem when I try to use the USB hookup on my POD HD500. If I use the audio outputs from the 500 to the interface it is fine. Only when I try the USB output does it put my audio in the wrong place. I'll have to check and see if the metronome is on. I'll check back.

Are they both using ASIO driver mode at the same buffer settings and showing the same record latency compensation and Manual Offset (if any)? Also, make sure the Record and Playback Timing Masters are referencing the correct device.

If everything checks out, you might want to try renaming Platinum's AUD.INI file and letting it build a new one. A few other users have reported problems that went away with a fresh AUD.INI.

I have a ticket open with support.   However, I tried my Win 8.1 installation and it works OK (it is a dual boot system so all the same hardware and Roland drivers for recording interface units).  Thus the Win 7 installation is the problem.  I tried an uninstall from the CC, restarted the PC and then reinstalled but that was no good as the reinstall uses the existing image on the hard drive, doesn't download a new version.

I'm now waiting response from support on how to get a "clean" uninstall/reinstall.

brundelfly, I tried aud.ini file, renamed it to origaud.ini.  Let Sonar create a new one and the same.   I then uninstalled the Roland Studio Capture, rebooted and did a fresh install.  Still the same problem.

I also had the issue recording started about 2 measures early, when punching section with loop/comping lead guitar takes, as some people noted turning off looping, may work if one retake is all your doing, really slows process and defeats purpose of comping feature. I had to manually offset tracks to line up so not a total loss but another operational annoyance not fully considered by developers. However, later just comping loops with some vocals I didn't have the issue, but wasn't using punch in, so maybe  punching at same time was issue. I haven't retested this yet, to see if punch feature was causing the issue when also loop/comping sections, and don't really have the time to specifically test and retest these things, but will take note next time I need to do this to see if it happens again.

My "punch in" does not use the punch in feature.  I just play (space bar) and press "R" when I want to record, the press space bar to end it.

I "think" I'm on to an ASIO driver problem (or a problem with ASIO in Sonar) as I just tried WDM and didn't have the problem.  I did a reinstall on the Roland Studio Capture drivers but that didn't help.  I created a new aud.ini file but that was with the ASIO drivers and that didn't fix it.

As WDM works, I'm going to give the aud.ini another shot.  I'm going to delete it, restart Sonar and use the WDM mode.  If that works I'm going to switch to ASIO and see if that fixes it.   brundelfly's suggestion of the aud.ini seems to be a key or at least a key in this.

Hope it works for you, but Id like to think if features are available they should work properly without spending time in trying to find ways to work around bugs to make it somehow achieve the desired result or functionality. (in saying bugs, it may be possible there is a change in the way features function in a newer version.) I guess when your used to using things a certain way, and they work, and then don't after an upgrade its somewhat frustrating, particularly if it doesn't always do it the same, I'm thinking with other comments here in my case it may have had something to do with metronome and count-in, but I don't believe I'm doing anything different than I used to with previous versions, anyway hoping next patch fixes this if a bug and control bar issues also.
