Hi CakeAlexS... as with #46 as follows:

Qutoe -----------------------
STEPS

1) Open a large Project.
2) Insert 10 tempo changes in the first minute of the track
3) Play

EXPECTED

Timeline smoothly scrolls left to right

ACTUAL

Timeline does not scroll smoothly. It's noticeably worse when you hover the mouse over it.
---------------- Quote

after all this is done, open up the Audio Snap Palette... if at first the ON/OFF button is in either state, simply toggle it (once is good enough). After that PLAY. - surprising all will be fine...  not just but PERFECT!!! :-) [it seems its must be done for every audio track]

if after PLAY, you toggle the ON/OFF state to its previous - it is also just as perfect...

as mentioned, you can also use the PEN tool to draw in Tempo Changes - again on PLAY.... PERFECT...!!!! :-)

hope this helps ya... thanks & cheers!!!!

Sorry for late response Keyz.

Well I tried it, it seems a little better but it's really hard to tell at my end. It's not obvious. Maybe this is the pseudocertainty effect at my end. I know this issue is resolved and other tests have confirmed this... Maybe we can get feedback from other people?

Hi Alex, thank you again for your reply. i apologise for being late as i haven't been on for a while.

Reading the above, it looks like most others have had this issue resolved with X3e. However, as per my post #79 above, it seems that i am still having this issue. The only resolve for me is to use the "Audio Snap" workaround.

its not a big issue actually, now that i have stumbled on the workaround.

oh BTW, this happens when i open the project to work on it. Its just that every time i open up this particular file , i have to apply the "Audio Snap" workaround - all is fine after that.

on another project, i noted that if the entire project contains just MIDI files, using just soft-synths and no audio files, there is no such problem. Hope this help too...

once again many thanks to all who helped... cheers!!!

I just opened the X3 Demo file and inserted random tempo changes from 38.93 - 120.11 BPM (base tempo is 85). I had to bump up my ASIO buffer a bit, but did not notice any difference between playing normally. If zoomed in so that only ~5 measures are in view it seems to not be as "smooth" as when zoomed out further. I am not sure if "zoom level" is playing a part in this.

Hi All,

This is happening for me in X3E and Platinum, in a mixed (audio & midi) project with tempo changes.

However, performing the toggle of the AudioSnap palette on all audio tracks results in smooth scrolling of the time line - including when I zoom in/out.

I'm happy with that! Thanks for the fix (workaround) .

I just had this again in a small project this afternoon. Restarting Sonar fixed it. I'll try the AS toggle next time, thanks!
