My music PC has been off for about 3 days. Turn it on today and start Sonar:

Error: Windows has found a problem with Sonarplt and needs to close. Windows doesn't come back with a solution after looking and I click close on the error window. Sonar closes.

I repeat this cycle and eventually Sonar's main screen opens with only partial graphics of my console showing on my 2nd monitor. When I click on the 2nd monitor I get a repeat of the error with Sonar crashing to the desktop.

Sonar opens the Normal template by default which I've setup to my liking and has been working fine.

When I open Sonar through double clicking a file name it opens fine 2nd screen included and I can manipulate screen elements with no difficulty or crashes.

There's been no windows updates. I know because I have that set to notify me.
I've changed no hardware either.

Any ideas.

Before this I have had and still do have some 2 nd monitor issues with respect to plugins. I can only show one plugin at a time on the 2nd monitor. It does not respect plugin recycle settings. While the first monitor does, allowing me to display as many plugins as I want.

I've tried switching over monitors and still the same response. They are identical Acer 24" LCD connected via HDMI to my Quadra FX3800 card.

Sounds like the Normal template is corrupt in some fashion, or something within the customized version of it is having problems.

There is probably a way to revert without uninstall/install, but if the issue is with something the Normal template is doing, why not just rename the current Normal.CWT file to something else, so you can save it for sending to Cakewalk, if needed/desired, and take any one of the other template files and copy it and rename the copy to Normal.cwt, to give you back a theoretically good template to open Sonar with.

Then, you could make a new Normal template.

As I said, there might be an easier way to reset stuff, but it's 5 something in the morning, and I have had zero coffee.  :)

Is there another way to connect them? I would avoid HDMI if I can. I have mine disabled.

Windows 7 has been giving me grief lately, one of the updates more or less screwed up my cd/dvd writer settings. Meaning I need third party software to burn any data now.

I run two monitors as well, with both X3 and Pltm.

I noticed the last time I used Pltm that I could only view one plugin window at a time.

When this happened I was near the end of my session so I did not think much of it until I read your post.

I will investigate tonight.

I've got that nagging situation that it's been working and I've used this setup for a few years. My video card only has 2 Display Ports which can be converted to HDMI, that's it and it works fine with everything else and has been working fine all along.

The reason I had not previously mentioned the issue of plugins not being able to open multiple lugin windows n the 2nd monitor is because I've had the same behaviour for several versions and don't know when it came in. As I've evolved my current workflow it now has become obvious and annoying especially as we now have the ability to control recycle plugins. I specifically wanted to show multiple plugins on my second monitor.

That is a feature of Sonar 2015. If you look at the plugin window toward the right top you should see an icon of a pin. Click that and it will stay open.

Well for what it's worth, windows updates have been an absolute bane of my life. Most troublesome problems can be traced back to updates and need a restore to sort them out.

I use two monitors, one HDMI for X3 program control and a VGA for putting up the score sheets. So far no problems running that configuration.

There are 2 issues.

The plugin issue I'm not concerned about as its there also in at least X3. I'm not talking about Recycle plugin window which works on monitor 1 but not 2.

But the major concern is this 2 monitor crashing Sonar to the desktop on opening Sonar with the Sonar icon and showing normal template. Very disturbing as its happened between turning off PC when all had been working fine and no windows updates. Reread first post please..

I've yet to reconstruct my normal template and see if that helps.

Is anyone able to have their console and or Multidock open on a second monitor and show multiple plugins on that screen. After placing the open plugins on that screen can you then activate any of them and get back to all being visible. Obviously you will need to use Recycle plugin setting or hold ctrl while opening subsequent plugins.
