From Middle English glopen, probably from Old Norse glápa (“to stare vacantly”), from Proto-Germanic *glupanan (“to shine, gape”), from Proto-Indo-European *ghlub(h)- (“to yawn, gape”). I misread the fred title.  I came here expecting a lengthy discourse on the subject of Origami.
