I have no idea why women do that to themselves.
They aren't men? They think if they don't all look like 20-something hotties, they'll be left alone as they get older. I may not think someone who's older looks as awesome as they did when they were younger, but I FAR prefer "real" to plastic (one of the reasons I moved away from Southern California!).
Now I could go for an older woman - there are a lot in their 50's and 60's who are still good looking and their mature looks are very hot. The exception, for me, is those who are making a concerted effort to look 30 years younger with a thick crust of makeup, plastic surgery and young person clothes. I think the problem with being a 50 year old trying to look 20 is that it's as if you're trying to attract the kind of people who find 20 year olds attractive, and those people are more likely to concentrate their attention on actual 20 year olds as opposed to 50 year olds dressed as 20 year olds.
In general, I think attraction is more about looking healthy than looking young. Doesn't matter how old a person is, if they have the kind of healthy glow that comes from eating well and exercising, they're going to look attractive. I would much prefer a healthy looking 60 year old woman with no "enhancements" than a 20 year old who eats junk food, smokes, and covers herself in an inch of makeup.
