James,

Very nice! Love the guitar tones used on this. My only mix crit is that the main drum kit and percussion (not the L/R toms) sound like they are really far away, while the guitars sound much closer to the listener. I'd suggest going for a more cohesive mix, IMO.

Regards,
Dan

Thanks Dan, glad you liked it. Not quite hearing as much of an imbalance as you are, but I respect your opinion so I'll mull that over.

Not a level imbalance, perceived distance. Partly, EQ can help resolve it, though it may take more than that to tie everything together.

Regards,
Dan

Nice track James and Ed, works well here, is Jyemz a new you?

Thanks John. I used to call myself 'Headscape' but there are several on Soundcloud, so I picked a new name. There's a story behind it, but it doesn't really matter.

OK Dan, thanks. These things are very subjective, and I'm not hearing a major problem personally.

Hi James, nice one! My first thought was of the Craig Chaquico album I absolutely wore out in the early '90's , just your instrumentation and mix brought it to mind - your song is a great listen, and I always appreciate and envy the clarity you have in your mixes.

I also noticed the drums seemed relegated to the back of the room, but it didn't seem a problem because I felt this is a guitar song, featuring guitar, with a special guest appearance by some guitar. Excellent guitar throughout btw so the drums were just sort of a necessary foundation for me. They're not featured in any way, are they?

thanks, nice work here.

Yeah, loved it, too! You are the house bass player around here and it always sounds tasty . . .

Thanks Tom, yes it is a guitar-fest isn't it? Still, I duz wot I duz. Glad you enjoyed it, and I appreciate the nice comment about the mix, as yours are always pristine.
