  • How to include Artist/Title names in CD tracks? [SOLVED]

I haven't had to burn an Audio CD in a while and I am struggling to get the artist name, song title etc to appear when a burnt CD is played back on a CD player.

Is there anything else I need to do other than ensure that the file properties/details are set correctly on the WAV files?

Thanks

what software are you using?

Ok think I have it sorted. Advanced tag editor is missing from w10 media player but you can edit the required fields from the library details screen.

I am just using windows media player in w10. I probably have other software that would do it but not installed.
I’m sure I was using Nero when I last did this! Thanks

It turns out that WMP in Windows 10 will not do this. Ahead Nero will do it but my license is so old that I would probably have to buy a newer version for Windows 10 and since this is a one off for a friend I'm not about to spend money on the solution.

There seem to be lots of solutions out there for burning an Audio CD that will be recognized and have track/artist names automatically populated when played back on a PC/laptop.

However, what I am trying to do is have this information displayed on a (non-Internet connected) CD player like you might find in a car. So the information needs to be burned into the CD-Text of the Audio CD.

Anyway, I found a free solution if anyone else needs it. In summary you:

1. Burn the Audio CD using whichever software you want (without any track/artist info).
2. Rip the CD you just burned with ImgBurn. This creates a BIN file image and importantly a CUE file.
3. Edit the CUE file in a text editor and add Artist/Track names etc.
4. Burn another Audio CD in ImgBurn using the edited CUE file.

Here's the detail which includes links to ImgBurn --> https://www.newcyberian.com/cd-text.html

Mp3tag is freeware although donations are gladly accepted.   It supports batch tag-editing of ID3v1, ID3v2.3, ID3v2.4, iTunes MP4, WMA, Vorbis Comments and APE Tags for multiple files at once covering a variety of audio formats.   Furthermore, it supports online database lookups from, e.g., Discogs, MusicBrainz or freedb, allowing you to automatically gather proper tags and download cover art for your music library.  You can rename files based on the tag information, replace characters or words in tags and filenames, import/export tag information, create playlists and more.  The program is frequently updated and the developer is responsive to user feedback.  It is my all-in-one tool for audio file metadata editing.

Still hanging in there, although I've been rather busy lately with non-musical related activities.  Taking a break, so to speak, but I'm looking forward to the upcoming holiday G.A.S. sales with a vengeance, LOL!

Good to hear abacab. Not long to wait now until the sales begin in earnest although a few seem to have started already. I have been trying my best to resist GAS unless I really need something but that's easier said than done!
I have ticked off one item already (EZ Drummer 2) and only have a few others on the list - a few Idiginus instruments, MIDI Guitar 2 and maybe something by Fab Filter not to mention a few freebies (Sonokinetic) that often come up.
