I've got just enough space left on my sample drive to cram the 100GB of SampleTank 4 that I just pre-ordered.

But any more additions beyond that and I will be needing another terabyte or so of hard drive upgrades...

K11U pretty much filled a 500G SSD for me.  The other 500G for samples is spinning, with about 250 free.  I'll likely add a 1T SSD for IKM and K11U, moving the remainder to the existing 500G SSD.

It never ends

Well I just ordered a 500gb SSD from Amazon and will have it in a few days. But it still may be till after the New Year before I get a chance to address the issue. Like Peter says, it's bonkers around this time!!

The main draw for me is sample library quality and sound access.
In the MAX version there's 8000 sounds. I am told the meta data is grouped by mood type and instrument.
If a search  brings up what I need  in seconds, this means as much to me as the sample quality. With 8000 sounds you NEED this. I can already duplicate anything in something else, but I can't get to it fast.
If it has both sound quality and easy access, I  see ST4 becoming a strong contender. ST3 quality won't make the grade for serious composers. They claim they've upped the ante. I am optimistic.

Agreed Tim. Finding something in all those samples would help tremendously. Many times I am sitting there and I kinda know what I want, and look at the names of the patch and it's like "What?" The names have no reference to how it sounds!

I just listened to the demo songs one more time. It seems like the ST4 is great for electronic music, EDM and maybe some cinematic folk. Metal, Funk and Reggae demos didn't impress me much.

Hmmmm... Thanks for the heads up Soundwise. I guess I need to listen to the demos.

Here's another very convincing guitar program for those who don't play or maybe just want to use samples.
