I'm looking to buy a set of electronic drums that only has a USB port; will CW PA9 work with a USB/MIDI device?

My DAW has:

Windows XP Pro
2.0 Ghz procesor
2 Gig Mem.

What is the brand and what model?  USB only I'm not sure of.  Most of the mid priced to more expensive brands also have MIDI.  I have used Yamaha's UX16.  Roland have the UM-ONE.  But these are USB to MIDI.

I'm guessing that most any modern PC will not have midi connections. If you have a device that has midi outputs then you need a way to convert the midi connections to USB. Some midi devices use a USB port so that you can directly connect them to the PC without using some kind of converter. So, in the end, all midi devices are connected to the computers via a USB port (unless you are using a really old PC). Since you are running WinXP Pro, USB is fully supported so PA9 should work fine. --Larry

Sylvester wisely asked what brand/model electronic drums you are considering. Maybe someone on the forum has had experience with that model or brand. Rarely a midi device can be problematic even though it can be easily connected. The talk about USB and midi connections has a lot to do with the electrical connections. There is also the midi data stream to be considered. However, General Midi (and its friends) have been a standard for a long, long time. --Larry
