I have a song that was transferred digitally from a reel. Apparently the reel had some damage and I've been able to save the majority of the song with resampling drums and using amp sims to mask the issues. The only issue that remains is the main guitar is still sounding a bit warped at times. Since this is a restore project re-recording isn't an option and must work with the files at hand. Have any of you run into this and what have you done to resolve it? Thank you

I would think the full version of Melodyne would allow you to correct for this.

Yup. Melodyne would be my first choice. Whether or not it works would depend on the nature of the "warp". Tape stretching can cause "wow", which is a slow pitch change that can span many notes. I don't know if Melodyne can deal with that without a great deal of tweaking of individual notes. But if it's a faster frequency modulation, Melodyne has a nifty vibrato-flattener tool that'll fix that right up. It's not in the lite version of Melodyne that comes with SONAR, though, so you'd have to spring for the full Studio or Editor version ($$).

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try Melodyne this week. The irony is I used Melodyne to fix a major timing issues that this song had. Even without trying to fix the tempo the guitar sounded warped which I'm thinking was due to the age of the reel. Originally I tried to keep a constant tempo which resulted in even more warping. The original started in the low 130s and ended in the high 140s lolololol. I smoothed the tempo so it starts in the high 130s and ends in the low 140s.  This has been the worst song to restore due to timing issues, bass player didn't play the last chorus (had to take notes from other choruses to finish) and the engineer didn't activate the ride mic so I had to use transients of of an overhead mic to sample with with AD2. Fun stuff :)
