Freddy J
The irreverent, irrelevant, and irascible fictitious REV Fred offers some insight on a troubling situation.

Actually I was not planning on posting this song.  I did this song a while ago and never was satisfied with the mix (e.g., vocal volumes, timing, etc.) and I just filed it away with out saving the working files.  A re-do would require starting from scratch.  How ever, the troubling events of the past week have gotten to me.  While the presentation is done in a tongue-in-cheek parody the sentiment is sincere.  While the title and hook main lyric sounds rather simplistic, I believe that this simple question raises other pretty profound questions.

Anyway, I offer it for your consideration and hope that at least the delivery might bring a smile.  Should I ever get motivated to re-do from scratch, any suggestions, crit's and/or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Freddy, you are the voice of reason in a world of chaos.  I hope you never stop writing because your words are usually so timely when they're not retrospective.  Kudos, my man!

Thank you Jesse!  Much appreciated!

Hi David.  Thanks for listening.  By way of explanation, a while back I was traveling through a remote section of Tennesee on a Sunday morning.  The only station that I could get on the radio was a religious service.  Well the preacher was delivering in the old Hell and damnation style and I thought I have to remember that.  It seemed to be appropriate for the fictitious Freddy J character REV (or brother) Fred.  It sort of complements my previous REV (or brother) Fred song --- Peace on Y'all.  Anyway  ----  it was done tongue in cheek but does have a bit of a message.

Wow thank you Lynn.  I very much appreciate the encouragement.  (BTW the check in payment for the kind words is in the mail).    ;>)

Freddy IS the REV!
While the lyrics may have been written some time ago the sentiment is appropriate for the moment and no doubt they'll be appropriate again, sad to say. I'm glad you posted the song.

No, we can't.

Oh, it's a song! Ok. Lyrics are very pointed and frankly awesome. Mixwise, I'd wish for the vocals up, and maybe guitars during vocals down a bit.

I think this is one of your best. Timings of guitar strums, the guitar work in general, solid drums, inventive creepy synth / organ parts, vocal presented crisp and clean, great stuff and your hard work shows.

Particularly well arranged - I like how you dropped in that slowed-down chorus? part with the synths - it creates a nice dynamic-range feel to the song, rather than just chugging the whole way through with the backbeat. Very effective!

Can I get an amen?

hell and damnation style could have been more pronounced + deserves a stronger chorus.

Thanks for sharing.

Good job!

Hey Bjorn.  Thanks for listening and the kind comments.  BTW, I absolutely loved your last post -Neighbour Bob".

Hi Tom.  Thanks for you kind comments and suggestions.  Ya, I listened again to this song and the vocals do need to come up a bit - particularly toward the end.  Thanks again and AMEN Brother Tom!

Hi Paul.  Thanks much for listening.  I appreciate your comments.  I just knew I should have search our local stations to see if I could find a similar service here.  Then perhaps I could have delivered the message with more of the spirit.  I guess I waited too long to record this song.
