I cloned a track so as to not lose the original, but didn't uncheck something... I've been editing the track and am only now discovering the two are still associated, can I unjoin them?

If it is an instrument track, split the instrument track before cloning

It's a soft Synth track, all I did was clone it, not grouped... now they follow each other, as if they were grouped, if I mute one they both mute... I understand before, I just don't want to lose the editing I've done now... no way to unjoin them?

Were you using a Simple Instrument Track or Split Audio/Midi?

Instrument tracks should not be cloned. If the track is split now, the clone will go away but the MIDI data should still be there, one set of MIDI clips in the audio track and the other set of MIDI clips in the MIDI track. Move the MIDI clips from the audio track to a new MIDI or instrument track.

I don't know, and I don't remember it giving me an option... I just created a soft synth track, recorded a part, then cloned the track to save the original while editing, but I can't mute or solo one without the other following, even when it's hidden... whatever it defaults to is what I did, literally just chose Insert from Track Template, then Soft Synth track templates, then chose and instrument from TTS-1

Insert another soft synth track, perform the operation in #6 and avoid cloning instrument tracks in the future.

Well, sadly I don't know what much of that means, I'll just start over, thanx

Right click on one of the cloned instrument tracks and select the "Split Instrument Track" option. Insert another synth track. Select the MIDI clips in the audio track. Hold the SHIFT key and click drag the MIDI clips by the header to the new synth track.
