You may find Cakewalk has been referring to the track type as an instrument track for some time. When originally rolled out, instrument tracks were called Simple Instrument Tracks. There are still a few references to SIT in the doc (and insert options dialog) however many other references to the track type have been changed to instrument track.

While there are things Cakewalk could do to alter instrument track cloning, my replies in this thread are concerned with the current instrument track implementation and how to deal with it.

I didn't know that Cakewalk is moving away from the S.I.T. term. My suggestion is that using "Simple Instrument Track" would make this topic easier to discuss. Instinctively one feels that everything except voices and sound effects are instrument tracks. "Simple Instrument Track" refers to precisely only one kind of track. It seemed to me there was some confusion around this in this thread.

Are you suggesting adding "Simple" to the track type would help solve the original problem?

WRT the use of instrument track, it is frequently used in the documentation and other instructional material.

If you prefer to add the prefix "Simple" that is fine by me.

C'mon, Steve, you know that's not what I'm saying. You've been helpful to me in the past, and I appreciate your knowledge, so if you really don't understand my point in #21, PM me and I'll explain it directly to you (since the OP here seems to have lost interest in finding a solution).
