  • Muted status of clips is ignored if its take lane is soloed

I've muted clips, but they still play back when I solo the relevant take lane. Why is this? I appreciate that soloing a take lane is not considered a permanent track edit but it's a distraction to hear audio that I have explicitly 'turned off'.

(I swear things were 10x more usable when we had layers. Take Lanes are awkward layers and the Comping record mode is just plain useless.)

I understand it now - it's so you can listen to how a comp would sound, if it was included into the track, even when currently a different one is selected. But although I can see that usage, it's infuriating for the times when you're trying to listen to the start or end of clips specifically (eg. to be able to make sure it blends well into a different clip), and the soloing means you hear past the end of the section you wanted.

It is actually a quite helpful feature (to some at least) because it allows for quick screening/listening of takes before you actually go into comping ... and it also works from the control surface which means mouse-free ears-only assessing of best performance ...

That used to be possible with isolating clips under the old system. Now, the equivalent of isolation introduces splits into the clips (annoying).

Screening takes is useful but I usually want to work with sections of takes, not whole takes.
