  • Track X is assigned to silent hardware output

Hi everybody,

Did a search, no results. This is an annoying issue that popped up for me in the last month. I have no idea if it is software related or pilot error, so I'm hoping someone has seen this before...

The error is that friendly message that pops up on project open, warning that one of the tracks is assigned to a silent output device. Thanks, Sonar. Only problem is, that track was assigned to a valid bus that went straight through the correct output. The warned track also played fine, muted/solo'd fine, so it appeared to be a false warning.

I was able to work around by creating a new bus and running that track through the new one. It was no big deal, except that it's happened on three other projects now (one of them on the master bus!), so it's seeming to be a pattern of annoyance at this point.

Thanks!

There was a post on this a while ago, within the last 6 weeks or so IIRC. I think Noel had some input on it. I can't remember what the eventual outcome was but I think any silent output be it on a buss/send or whatever will generate the warning. "None" counts as a silent output BTW.

Cool, I'll do a search for Noel's post. My initial search was using keywords from my thread title-- 0 results.

Just to be clear, I'm getting this error on tracks/busses that are actually correctly assigned and playing, so it's driving me nutzzz!

Thanks!

I started getting this message about the time I upgraded to X1C. It doesn't seem to affect anything, but it is kind of annoying. It is an intermittent problem, so I don't know how I could even send a report to CW. Also, lately, I've been getting a message that Sonar can't find Dimension Pro although it actually does. Just a small anomaly.

I guess false errors are better than real ones.

osd, this just happened to me last week.  I would check the sends on that track.  I had a send to a bus compressor, then deleted the bus. I then got the same error message. I went to the track and deleted that send. No more error messages. I'm not sure if this is what happened in your case, but I thought I pass it along.

In my case I had defined an effects bus in which the sends of the left and right channels were set to "None".  Once I set both channels to Master, the silent hardware output message went away.
