  • Melodyne Singletrack (Editor) not showing?

I have been trying to use the audio to midi functions on a drum track to no avail. But I got a tip from another user to first use the ctrl-M on a highlighted track to "ARAfy" it...well imagine my surprise when I did this and Melodyne opened but stated it was the Essential version, not the upgraded Singletrack (Celemony's choice of name for Editor now).

Do I need to uninstall Essential before installing Singletrack?  It (singletrack) does open fine in stand-alone mode, so I know it is installed, and I followed the default install routine as well.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

I am not sure where you started from. But if you had the Essential version that came with X3 and then you purchased the Editor version, all you need to do is run Essential and got to Help->License and type in the license you got from Celemony when you purchased Editor. No need to download and install anything.

Hmmm..thanks. Celemony certainly gave no such advice (that I noticed anyway)...but I will try that. There was a download though Melodyne Singletrack 2.1.1

PS: EDIT - yep that did it, thanks!

Oh well, more work to do yet methinks - first time I tried it and ran it on the poly setting to get the audio drumtrack out to midi and it crashed Sonar instantly!!

Will need to investigate why.

Melodyne Singletrack is really three versions; Essential, Assistant and Editor. Your license key determines which version (and thus which features) are unlocked. The name "Singletrack" is merely used to distinguish it from the stand-alone DAW-like product Melodyne Studio.

I think their whole deal is very annoying, all I have is "singletrack" too now after having semi happily having #EDITOR with X3-for $180 AUD conversion.
Installing Platinum somehow blew away EDITOR and I now have single tack and Celomoney[better name I think?} website wants me to BLOW my 1 and ONLY licence to reinstall EDITOR[from what I can fathom?].

I needed that licence for my desktop

I have had issues as well - I have had Editor (well use to be studio, then editor now single track, I think!) for ages and upgraded quite a few times - all outside of the version supplied with Sonar.
After Platinum install or one of the updates, my version of melodyne disappeared even though I did not install (well I didn't think I had installed) the one bundled with Platinum.
I tried just a re-install but did not cure the problem - wrong version of melodyne - I think it said it was Playback mode only?? All deleted now so cant quite remember - I just know it wasn't my version!!
So I uninstalled everything I could find re melodyne, went into the registry, searched and deleted all entries of Melodyne in there as well, downloaded the latest version (my version if you like) from the Melodyne website and re installed.
That seemed to crack it - even though I have only used it once since then, seemed to work as it should.
Can only agree that Melodyne need to up their game  - they seem typically (and I hate to say this) a bit too German and arrogant - just like NI used to be. Their renaming of everything as single track for instance I am sure makes perfect and logical sense......to them - I think it just confuses the hell out of the rest of us!
Saying all the above, it is still a fabulous product

I'm not thrilled with the way they handle their licensing either. I posted about it here: http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3199467

In a nutshell, even though I have a license for Editor 1.x, I can only use it if I uninstall the Essential 2.x that came with SONAR and vice-versa.
