Thanks for your great info.  I did not update my AD1 to AD2 last summer, knowing that the new version of Sonar would have AD2.  I have only one adpack, but if I understand what others are saying, I need to still upgrade to AD2 to use it.  Is this correct?

Thanks for your time, and remember "We're only in it for the money".  or Mudsharks.

Yup, that is correct. You can still use it in AD1. Another odd factoid; there really isn't a AD2. You get AD2 when you buy an AD Pack, or bundle, so you don't really get an AD2 with standard kits included. So even though you only have 1 AD Pack if you upgrade you get the Pop, Rock and Prog kits that are included in AD1.  So if you upgrade you will get 4 kits added to AD2. With the Producer Bundle you get 3 AD2 kits (and the AD2 engine) and if you upgrade you will have 7.

Huh?  I totally do not get this.
Are you saying there is no "AD2" to download?
When I "registered" my AD2 it shows the paks, but no AD2.  It shows I have AD1 installed and everything is up to date.

I have not picked or dl'ed any of the paks.   If I do, does that "upgrade me"?

This seems pretty darn confusing.....

Yes, that's correct.

What BassDaddy is saying is that each of the current Adpacks contain the AD2 engine built in, and a seperate purchase isn't necessary.
For AD1, you had to first purchase the AD1 software/engine and then the adpacks (sold seperately) could be used.

Of note: I didn't have to choose "Other" when registering and all went smoothly.......I picked "Online Webshop".

Thanks! So mine is probably ok, I just have to instal one of the ADPaks.   Who were the marketing geniuses that thought that up?   When you log in, it only gives me the paks and no mention of that being the reason.  Then there IS a AD2 "demo" and it says AD1 installed.

In any case thanks a ton.  I'll try that when I get back from business.

Getting the Additional AdPaks was worth the Platinum price of admission. ($125.16 for the X3E Producer to Platinum Upgrade from JRR Shop).  Lucky me.  Even at $149 I would have done it.  So far, rock steady all around, even with ancient VSTs.

I've put off the AD2 Producers Bundle, while I work out which midi paks require which ADpaks and I suppose that applies to the Kit Pieces, too.

I have AD2 and therefore the Studio Pop, Rock and Prog. I bought Fairfax Vol 1 and 2 midipaks, plus I have a Pearl Masterworks piccolo snare somehow (don't remember how that got in there at all! LOL

I know I want brushes, so I have to get the Jazz kit to add the brushes midipak. I've been listening to the ADpaks
and can only conclude I will have to get more than the 3 "freebies". Indie, Vintage Dry and Fairfax 2, all seem to be ones I'd use, but I need the brushes and so the Jazz Kit brushes has to be one of them.

It seems odd that most (maybe I'm wrong) other vendors have "Nashville or country" kits or patterns. It seems like xln/Addictive don't think there's a customer base for it.

Back to "auditioning"
Oh yeah, I used the online webstore path

Just a few minutes ago, I finally decided on which 3 to get: Fairfax 2, Vintage Dry, and Reel Machine. For the Midi, I got the Blues, Rock Songs, and Percussion Beats (had a lot of others I wanted as well). The problem was that a lot of them sounded good and too many to chose from.

This looks like it's going to be an ongoing collection build up as there's a lot there that I want.    This Producer bundle is a success in my book........totally worth it. :)

Yeah, I just decided I'd pick 3 now and just add 2-3 more in a bit. As far as the midipaks go, when they're on sale for $10 @, I'll get the "extra ones" then.
I could use Reggae, and probably the songs ones, since I could easily think of the song and know if there were patterns I could use.

The AD Producers Bundle is my favorite freebie Cakewalk has given us, ever. The way they handled the AD1 to AD2 thing has been confusing for lots of people. The whole "subscription, membership" deal was a non factor for me when I saw the Producers Bundle. I get a whole year to see what happens with Platinum and it doesn't cost anything. The last couple of Sonar versions Cakewalk has given us some really nice freebies.
