Dan,

First, I was interested to see on an instagram post that you did not leave an empty U above your UFX. Does it get warm? My UCX gets pretty warm and I left an empty U above that and above my Audient. If it's ok to fill these, it would be helpful to know.

Next, Would there be any value in shortening the sweep sound before playing it back and recording it? I don't really know how the impulse/convolution process works. It seems to me it makes sense to play the sweep more slowly, but it leaves me wondering if the early low frequency reflextions would get lost in the impulse when it is shortened to 1 sec or less.

Next, as you moved the speakers around the room, the speakers were always facing the Mics?

And Why have the Mics aimed up? I always figured you would use a stereo pair aimed at the impulse source.

Thanks!!

-I have had my RME UFX running all night at some points and it seems to champion through. I would say fill those spaces with some gear!

-The length of the resulting impulse is based on the room, and not the length of your initial sweep. A 20 seconds weep and a 3 second sweep all result in the same length impulse response - except the 20 second one is more detailed. It's kind of like recording at higher sample rates. You're just getting higher resolution and not sweep length.

-For every sweep that was taken, the microphones were pointed at the ceiling. These are Omni microphones, so it doesn't matter what direction you point them in.

Hope that helps!
