...right, so the Adpacks don't actually come with grooves, unlike EZD?

Correct, the grooves are separate.  But the basic install of AD2 will include samples of almost all the groove packs.  So you can try them out before you select the ones you want.

I've found that the Rock Songs pack is similar to some of the EZD packs.  You get about 20 songs, and each song is broken into parts, such as Verse, Chorus, Bridge.  There's usually a few variations of each part, similar to EZD.  Unlike EZD groove packs, the AD2 Rock Songs doesn't come with too many separate fills.

Ok thanks, that's a shame about the fills. I guess I need to get 3 kits that are versatile, but which complement each other? And then take a punt on the Midi packs, probably 60s beats, American Rock and one of the other Rock ones.

Mus, what I did is audition all of the adpaks/midi paks over at XLN and then selected the ones I really liked........I ended up getting every adpak (except for th Metal one...that's next) . IMO, they are ALL very good, very useful, and quite easy to use.

Don't forget to check the  Beat Transformer in AD2.......it allows you to customize the beats in so many ways. You can control velocities; add accents; randomize timing and velocity; mute kitpieces; alter the speed to double time, half time 75%, etc...

It seems to be a one-time choice.
There are demos on the website, but note that you can fine tune the drums and cymbals.
They are generally good, and they do work with standard MIDI grooves.
You already have a good selection of drum plugins, and you may enjoy having this as an additional option.

Well, if you guys were going for a classic american rock pack to go with the midipak would you go Studio Rock, Fairfax Vol 1 or Indie Rock?

Thanks!
