I use both EZ drums and AD2 which I prefer but the AD2 symbols are hands down better. I wish there was a EZD2/AD2 program all in one to save me the hassle of opening two seperate syths and mapping out different maps. The editing software in EZD 2 is a really nice tool that I don't get why superior doesn't have and I don't quite understand why AD2 doesn't have a sequencer package AD pack or a writer like EZD2.

No knock whatsoever on the drum sounds or effects and basic editing functionality and processing that both have. I just wish they had more creative sequencer capabilities however I'm getting better with the step sequencer everyday.

Does anybody know if there is a kit that sticks to GM format? I havn't really used AD because I'd have to change almost ever part. Would a drum map be the answer here? Never used one. But I have over 120 Backing tracks I sequenced myself and they are all GM format. I've been using session drummer just fine. But it might be an improvement to use AD..

...right, so the Adpacks don't actually come with grooves, unlike EZD?

I know this thread is from a couple of weeks ago....but I've got tons of grooves with AD2 and have never bought any midi paks.

Edited to say:
Nevermind....I read the post wrong...and backwards.

In the AD2 UI, click the ? in the upper right and select "Map Window"
Then pick GM from the "Map Preset" drop down in the upper right of the Map Window dialog.
To make GM the default, there is a button in the bottom right just above the OK/Cancel buttons in the Map Window dialog.

So let me clear something up...I have Platinum and when I used the AD2 installer I selected three kits, three minipaks and three instruments...did I do something wrong?

There were three "Deal" buttons and I did each one.

I can't imagine it would have allowed me to do this incorrectly.

Anyway, I have yet to check on any of them after install, as I have yet to ever use this type of tool.

It is my intention to take the mic'd drum tracks from one of my songs and create transients, then assign an AD2 drum to it...I saw this on Cake University.

Later, I thought I would give it a go and try the minipaks to create some drums in a new project that I may be writing, to use as a tool to communicate ideas to my drummer.

I don't know as I have never done any of this...Cake University, here I come...in about a year. LOL

Don't forget to check the  Beat Transformer in AD2.......it allows you to customize the beats in so many ways. You can control velocities; add accents; randomize timing and velocity; mute kitpieces; alter the speed to double time, half time 75%, etc...

I need to do this (I just got Platinum last week end so I am still very new to AD2)

*****I have already figured out how to drag a midi groove into the midi track but when I hit my DAW play button both the DAW midi groove AND the AD2 instrument both play at the same time....Superior Drummer and EZ Drummer are a lot easier at this.....but then again I just do not know the trick yet.....

Does anyone know how to make AD2 only use the the midi groove I have placed in the midi track????********

Thanks

OH, and I did not know that i could audition the different pack before hand so I ended up with the Fairfax 1 kit, the Studio Rock Kit and the Percussion Kit....
For the Midi packs I got the Writers Block (not very good in my opinion) the Rock Midi which is ok (I am still learning how to make these things work) and If forgot the third one........but all in all at THIS POINT I am not finding them all that great.....but there is still a lot I need to learn with this...

However I have learnt how to import my Groove Monkee midi and they work very well!!! I am happy here...
Now I guess I will need to learn how to make a drum map and then see if I can configure my Toon Track Grooves...

Thanks guys
