Assuming you use per project audio folders, just delete the entire song folder. If you use a global folder, I don't know. I'd also really like to hear why you use a global audio folder in that case, since I can't think of a good reason :)

Yes it all together in an audio folder, I can just use file explorer "cakewalk projects folder" correct?

I just haven't done this in a while with the size of hard drives today

The question is, is the audio for your songs stored like "Cakewalk projects\my song name\audio", so in a subfolder of the song, or do you have one gigantic folder with all the audio for all your songs. If the former, deleting a project and everything with it is simple; just delete the project folder of the project you want to get rid of. If the latter, I don't know how you would get rid of only the audio for your specified projects. I'm sure there's a way but I've never used a global audio folder as it seems an organizational nightmare.

If you use Sonar without creating a new project first eg. Open sonar with normal template you can import and or create audio and Sonar needs somewhere to store the audio so it goes into a default folder.

If you open Sonar then select File New you create a project which then defines how the audio is stored eg Store Audio with Project Folders.

Sounds like a good case for a bigger hard drive - or an additional one

This is a little confusing. I select the option in "preferences" to "use per project folders".

I always open a template I created, for new projects.

I then have to create a new folder.

After tracking to the template, I rename the project and change it to a .cwp and change the location to the new folder I just created.

This is not difficult, but there have been times I have forgotten to follow the steps exactly and then had a mess to clean up.

I wish it was a little more automatic, or maybe there is a way, and I am not aware of it.

The real problem is (for me anyway) is there is no way to open a new project without a project/song name.  If you are just messing around you have to have a name.  I've got a "synth" project I usually start with and once I get into it name - even if it is a bad title.

I think that's probably to ensure that if your messing around becomes productive, you can just hit ctrl+S and not have to go through creating the project.

If I'm doing a temporary project, I just type nonsense keys like dsdfkjlfdss. Then if it doesn't turn into anything, it's easy to find and delete in the Cakewalk projects folder.

I've developed the habit of using the date as the song name when it's not already decided.  Later, I do a 'Save As', appending the real name if it goes that far.  For example:

"150406" is the original name.  Later it gets saved as, '150406_NewHitTune'.  I keep the date on the front so the song folders stay sorted in the order they were created in.

Did somebody say 'OCD'?  No, it's not.  It's 'CDO'.  That's the same as 'OCD' but properly alphabetized
