Hi everyone, the built-in "help" functions for Sonar Artist are decidedly less-than-helpful. :( It's been a long time (probably 6 years) since I've done any kind of work in a MIDI program. I have an Alesis QS 6.1 keyboard that I'm trying to connect via a MIDI USB controller, but I can't seem to get Sonar to recognize anything. To say that it's frustrating is an understatement. Any help would be most appreciated.
1.) Did you install The latest drivers for the Alesis?
2.) Does windows recognize the Alesis? Windows needs to see it first. If windows doesn't see it, then SONAR will never see it.
3.) are you using USB or 5pun for your MIDI connection. Replace what you are using with a new usb or 5pin chord. This will rule out bad cables.
You basically install the drivers, if needed. Then connect the MIDI controller to your PC, then turn on the MIDI controller. Wait for windows to see the MIDI controller, then run Sonar. Then go into Sonar's preference menu and check the appropriate boxes for that MIDI controller. That is all you need to do.
Your Welcome,
CJ
