Hi
I want to control X3 across the room with my Surface Pro (same as laptop).
I had thought of using Logmein.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks

I think Logmein is internet based. Is there any reason you can't just use Windows Remote Desktop?

I go about 12' with my wireless mouse and keyboard. If I added a remote monitor somehow it would be cool. But I can see the screen well enough to record, stop and rewind.

I just use Remote Desktop built into Windows.
My daw is win7 and your user account MUST have a password (MS RDP "Limitation") - AFAIK.

The remote desktop client is present in all modern and legacy windows version since XP.
I have yet to see a windows version that does not have the RDP host in it - It just has to be enabled.

You can then control your daw by logging into it.
I don't have a static IP on the daw but connect to it's NETBIOS (Computer) name which is SUPERBOX.

Depends on what you're looking for, but for Win8, I'm looking at the next version of yMidi (when it gets out of beta):

I've always said it would be great if Sonar would add a "remote window" (optimized for touch) that could natively run Sonar interface elements across a network.

I think some "home" versions of Windows missed Remote Desktop. Still, it is by far the preferred solution.

Yes, a windows pro version must be installed on the machine you want to control to enable the remote server.
