I'm using Sonar X3, with a Roland Octacapture with factory default settings. When I play, and switch the monitor to just headphone everything is fine, but if I push the monitor switch out to hear the monitor speakers I get a good quarter second latency. I'm really confused. Shouldn't theyboth be the same? Any help greatly appreciated!

that's strange, it's not some setting on your speakers or you have long unbalanced speaker cable ?
other thing to check is you have the outputs correct in Sonar Preferences and in your project..

I'm not sure what 'factory default settings' are.  Sounds like a couple of different things are going on here.  Are you using the ASIO drivers in preferences in Sonar?  Is the correct ASIO driver loaded (the Roland one, not ASIO4ALL or some other 'utility')?

What is in the project you are working on.  What VSTs (if any) are you using?  Try turning off the VSTs globally by pressing the 'E' key.  Some VSTs are used for mixing/mastering, but cause significant latency when tracking.

I have an octacapture , don't know the answer , but ... I disabled my pc soundcard and route things to the OC , also , can you try your monitors from one of the other output sets?  Also worth looking at the OC routing settings. Sorry I cant help more.

Thanks guys!, Sorry it took so long to return but one's gotta pay the bills.  By factory defaults I mean, when I open
the patch bay on the OC and select 'initial settings'. I already had disabled my soundcard and have everything routed through the OC. I have noticed though that if I select the option to 'Directly Output the Inputs' The Latency issue resolves through the monitors but I have no sound through the headphones and the monitor gain becomes nonfunctional.
(Roland ASIO drivers are being used and this occurs on all projects, those with VSTs and those without. Thx.)

Ok, I just 'initialized' all the settings on the OC and the problem resolved, sorry, I thought I was doing that in the 'patch bay'. Not sure though what I had screwed up, I guess time will tell. Thanks again for all the help!
