Hi all. I'm using Session Drummer in the latest version of Sonar Pro. What's the best method of putting a drum fill into the workflow alongside the basic drum pattern? There a tutorial on YouTube from about 8 years ago that shows using "track layers", a feature which I believe no longer exists in Sonar. How would I go about this now please? I've tried using take lanes to no avail.

Take a drum fill put on a separate track where you want it to play. Then remove that part from the basic drum pattern and match it up by nudging it back and forth to get it to fit.
 

Assuming you are dragging & dropping MIDI clips for your basic grooves/fills, it might be easier to 
> turn on smart grid mode
> expand the MIDI drum track to show takes lanes
> click on the [+] to add a new take lane
> drag & drop a fill pattern at the desired point
> slip edit the overlapping portion of the original groove clip to allow room for the fill clip
This will keep all MIDI clips on one track for Session Drummer and you can turn off Smart Grid mode and slide the clips around as desired. You can also select a clip in the take lane and switch to the PRV which will show the selected notes. They can be dragged as a group in the PRV if you find it easier to position. 

I always do what fitzj said! I believe this way is simple!! Just add a new midi track,assign its output to your drum instrument and your done!! It makes it easy to identify where fills are and its easy to try many different fills.
