I'm not a loop kind of guy but I want to use some 3rd party (from 99sounds) atmosphere drone loops.
They all play fine in preview but some of them stutter when placed on the timeline.
My project is set to 24/48 which is exactly what the loops are...any thoughts?
FWIW, changing my buffer from 512 to 1024 made no difference.
Also, how does one adjust the volume while previewing clips in the browser...I half-ass looked around but can't seem to be able to find it.
Thanks very much,
Randy
EDIT: after closing and opening the project whenever I drag a loop to the timeline it shows up waaay down the timeline (ie measure 900). This is when trying to drag to the now time at around m. 100

Randy, they shouldn't stutter at all.......not really sure what's causing that as I've never had that issue. The volume can be adjusted in the Preview Bus (in the Mix View). You can also enable 'Auto-Preview' so that the audio loop will start playing it as soon as you select it.

Go to preferences, Audio Data and uncheck Always import broadcast waves at their timestamp, this should stop them from importing way down the timeline.  I use the same project settings as you, and have no stutter problems with loops, so can't help with that.

Are the loops being timestretched? That could have a detrimental effect.

Grum.

P.S. There should be a Preview buss so you can adjust the output volume there.

Hmmm...I can't find a "Preview Bus" in Console View or TV.
That said, I may have deleted it long ago and the setting has carried over all these years.
Can you tell me how to get it back?

Thanks bud, that seems to have resolved that issue

Hey Grum,
I'm not stretching them (just dragging to the timeline) but maybe it had something to do with the timestamp thing.
I'll report back if I get stuttering.
Thanks!

If you create a bus and call it "Preview" it will show as an option in the media browser dropdown menu (when you click on "Audio Preview Bus").

Randy, are you previewing the loops using the browser setting Preview at Host Tempo?  If you are, then when a loop is imported, it may not automatically play at the project tempo until you make it a Groove Clip.  If you select the Clip tab, select Groove Clip, and turn on looping, you can see the loops original tempo.  If there is a big difference between the clips original tempo, and your project tempo, and it is a groove clip, it could cause the stutter problem.  This is related to Grum's timestretching comment.

You must be talking about a dropdown I'm just not seeing Grum...all I see is the dropdown with "audio library", "MIDI grove clips" etc (after adding the bus).
Can you be more specific por favor?
EDIT: oops, sorry I finally found it

Thanks shawker, I haven't experienced any more studdering since changing the timestamp option but will delve into this if I notice it again.
Thanks again to everyone!
