I know it's relatively trivial but I'm really pleased the mp3 encoder finally got updated and fixed. This is something I have to use multiple times on almost every project and it saves a bunch of clicks. I bought it more than a year ago and I can finally use it!

I'm intrigued by the mention of FabFilter VST3 handling improvements. Does anyone know what was wrong there? I haven't noticed anything, though I generally don't do anything very crazy with them.

One thing that had me worried was AudioSnap edits saved in X3 not being picked up by Platinum. I'm pretty sure I've bounced my edits (I usually do because otherwise they sound terrible) but I've definitely moved a few projects from X3 to Platinum that had AudioSnap stuff in them at some point. Was it just the panel settings or actual moved transients?

... and the samples may not be in the right place  although I am not sure exactly what to look for.

* Scook is correct for this. Whilst it works in Dimension Pro sticking a whole load of .sfz files in the root of the multisamples folder is simply unacceptable. It has been packaged badly.

Also

* The hardgrove collection just copies to the default area and does not honour the folder path for rapture in the registry. You need to move it to the multisamples folder manually afterwards (if it is in a different place).

* Boost 11 which appears to be installed on every update is also hard coded and does not honour the existing file path.

This is a mess that needs fixing.

At least they tried to document it, but even the workaround does not work.

If you follow the workaround it eventually crashes Sonar, you then realise you have to run Sonar as administrator...
Once you've done that and followed instructions you get a log file like this:

File d:\cakewalk content\dimension pro\multisamples\goldtopneck\sfz\goldtopneck\d2.wav not found or couldn't be loaded.

This should not have happened. It appears they knew there were issues before it was released.
Even if the workaround had worked expecting us to do this was every sample (30+) is not acceptable.

If the package itself was half baked (looks like they knew it before it was released) they should just have delayed the release of just these samples by a week. Looks like the deadlines got in the way of reliability.

I hope this does not happen again.
I think there should be an patch along with the control panel issue to wipe these samples and install it properly now, along with the two other issues I mentioned.

But to be clear it does work for me if I keep the samples in the root of the multisamples folders (again not acceptable but I can live with this until a patch gets released).

I found the missing DPro programs and it may be unique to my installation which is non-standard.

In your case I suspect it is both, there's no doubt the installer behaves in a non standard fashion as well.

Do I sense a pattern here?

Duxbury or Danvers next?

Hi Sander (or anyone)-

I have the MP3 encoder from (I think it was) Pro Audio 9. It's been a while, but IIRC, I had to install that each time I installed a new version of SONAR. Is that now ancient version updated with Cambridge, if you know? I have other options, so it's not the end of the world if not.

Thanks-

The old PA9 CD does not work anymore but you are still entitled to unlock the mp3 encoder for free. Contact support and request the unlock program to replace the PA9 process. Cambridge has an update to the encoder which has been bundled with SONAR for a long time.

The Troubleshooting section was included for the benefit of people who have non-standard installations. Those with standard installations shouldn't need to do anything.
