I have trouble with the Neck Power Chords patch. It works fine at 44.1/16, but it hangs after a couple of chords at 24/48 and causes Platinum to shut down.

This is interesting ... when I first installed the GoldTop expansion, I fired up Dim Pro stand-alone to try it quickly from my MIDI keyboard.  When I select 'ASIO Control Panel' from the ASIO menu, I get this:

Dim Pro worked fine stand-alone with the Neck Power Chord program after dismissing this message box.  I exited DPro, fired up S-Plat and added a Dim Pro instance to the project.  The project sample rate remained at 48K.  I selected the Neck Power Chord program and it loaded fine.  The first MIDI keyboard key I pressed gave me a brief burst of the appropriate audio from DPro then went silent with the meters frozen at playback level.  I tried to select another DPro program and got the standard Windows not responding message and chose to kill S-Plat.  The good news is that the S-Plat process actually went away without further intervention.

If this is a question about the DPro minihost settings, the sample rate for the minihost is stored in the registry. I believe the default is 44.1. Here are the keys to the functions in minihost which in all the standalone Cakewalk synths use:

ESC: All Notes Off
F3: Set to 44100
F4: Set to 48000
Shift+F3: Set to 88200
Shift+F4: Set to 96000
F5: Transpose -12
F6: Transpose -1
F7: Transpose +1
F8: Transpose +12
F11/F12: Previous/Next Program
Left/Right arrows: Bend down/up
Up arrow: CC1
Down arrow: CC2
Space bar: Aftertouch

(MIDI) Notes:

Each synth maintains a separate registry entry.

Great info scook, but it was NOT a question about settings.  My post was intended to be informational about the differences between running stand-alone vs as a plugin inside S-Plat.

The point being that in my example, running stand-alone the program in question didn't cause any problems even though S-Plat crashed while hosting DPro as a plugin using the same program.

I hope the sample rate info isn't clouding things - I included it for the sake of completeness on the outside chance the rest of post is looked at closely.

Here is the interesting part
I just fired up DimPro stand-alone and pressed F4 to set 48K as the sample rate.  I then loaded the Neck Power Chord program and pressed a MIDI keyboard key.  I got the same brief sound followed by the same stopped responding message.

No need to fire up S-Plat to see this one crash!!

Thanks again scook for the above info.

Try running sonar as administrator. I suspect Dpro is trying to log something and that's when it crashes as log file is stored where it does not have permissions (bad design) so it throws a fit.
