my prediction is that we can expect its code name to begin with the letter C.

AT - totally understand where you're coming from.  In searching the forum looking for answers I did come across a lot of discussion about how the new membership program is a ripoff, etc. so I get that your response is essentially killing several birds with one stone if people happen to stumble across this thread as well!

Craig - thanks for the detailed feedback.  I think I just got really excited about the new membership model and when I saw the "up next" section, I was stoked to see those new features in February, then excited to see what they'd have in store for us when they refreshed the page for the March update.  Perhaps I was being a bit unrealistic. :)  And of course since I have a feature request out there, I'm really hoping that one of these days I'll see that in one of these updates, which is probably one reason why I'm do damn impatient to see what's up next!

Makes perfect sense that initial updates will address bug fixes, which is obviously important.  No sense in dumping more features onto a program whose existing features still require a little tweaking.

And of course you're correct that when taken cumulatively, the content updates each month can really start to add up, and some of it could very well prove to be useful.  And since it's all included in the regular updates, of course I'll take it!  But I tend to be a little more curious about workflow and features, so those are the things that get me excited.

All in all, I really do like the new features in Platinum and the changes to the membership plan.  I just need to curb my expectations a bit and live with the fact that I'm not always going to know ahead of time what's in store with the updates.  And that's kinda cool, too.  It'll be like Christmas if in a future update I see that the QuadCurve EQ is now a standalone VST plugin. :)

Here I think it's important to consider what you get over the course of a year. Maybe you don't have a need for bass loops, or maybe like Grem, you'll check them out and find them useful...or maybe you'll find them useful six months from now. But after a year, when you have a lot of content to choose from, I think the odds that some of it will be very useful to any individual musician increases dramatically. [...]

I'm on the annual plan (because I want to own/keep the software right away) and usually not so much after the added content ...

BUT ... if you are involved in producing a variety of projects in different genres, the collection of this "free" content comes in really handy when you have someone sitting in your studio voicing another "unusual" idea and you can go and quickly find something suitable ... no matter if it is X-mas bells or public enemy style bass sounds ...

[...] in the early days of a new release, fixes and workflow enhancements tend to be a priority.

That's music in my ears :)

I'm writing up the eZine for the second release now so I know what's in it, and I think members will be pleased.

So, will it be the hidden screen set #11 which makes Sonar look like PT, so everyone could start using it and keep claiming to use the one and only ???

Feedback in these forums (and I suspect the survey??) was overwhelmingly in favour of bugfix and workflow enhancements as priority. From this I take that cakewalk are listening.

I found that with the first release, the eZine was terribly under advertised. I don't know why, but it took me a week before I noticed it and the link was right on the announcement page. It would be good to really push the eZine front and center on the next release.

Agreed. One of the eye-opening parts of the survey was only half the people checked out the eZine, so Cakewalk is looking into a solution. Comments like yours give additional incentive and are much appreciated
