I open something I don't need at the moment, say the piano roll, and undock it using the double-window icon on the right of the multidock. The multidock now disappears...  

 
It doesn't disappear completely but is removed from the main window. What you've actually done is given the Multidock it's own floating window containing any and all open views aside from the main view (Track View). This works great with multiple monitors but not so great with one.

(Strangely, draggîng the tab off the multidock does not work).

 
Dragging one view from the Multidock only undocks that one view. If you close or drag away all the Multidock views, the empty Multidock bar will reappear in the main view.

Does anyone really use more than 3 screensets?    Humans are adaptable, sure ...

I'd like to see 33.  I have loads of useful screenset, and definitely use more than three. All 10 have a place in my setup and I have a few more I import occasionally too depending on the project.
 
I'd like to see a screenset manager/library. One of the best features IMHO. 

33?  I have a hard time remembering what my 3 t-shirts have printed on them, much less which of 33 different screen configuration I might use!    :)

Since many years I haven't seen the multidock.
Every thing I open (vst-plugins, vst-instruments, pianoroll ...) shows up in a seperate Windows and never in the multidock (except loop construction).

Yeah, I've come to an agreement with the multidock but it took adding a third really big monitor.  Now the CV floats across two 22" monitors and unless I'm working in the PRV, I always have the TV and the CV open.  
 
I even have screensets configured to move the CV over 8 tracks at a time to keep in alignment with my MCU and extenders.

That having screensets to use with MCU and extenders is a great idea. Can't wait to set it up.

I'm interested in seeing how you approach it.  PM me or post how you accomplished it.  I'd like to see if we came at it in the same direction.

Re-reading some of the comments, I guess I'll try the suggestion to get the MD out of my main monitor and up on to the less used 3rd monitor.     Whether my neck will take the strain of looking to the very top of the top monitor to see the menu ... we'll see.    As to "why can't you use it like I do", well.    For everything I do, nearly, multiple SIMULTANEOUS windows are necessary.   And the number keys, alas, all ten of them hardcoded to screensets.   Does anyone really use more than 3 screensets?    Humans are adaptable, sure ...

I've got 5 screensets just for different views of the CV.

Thanks for the reply ... Your kidding me?  They better come up with an option to turn this on and off or I'm done with Sonar for good.. it's a complete time waster as far as im concerned ... don't give me options that I can't select or deselect...you don't know what i want or when... so stop trying to tell me what options i need... dickhead programmers!
