G.E.L. Roger did you actually "Read" my post... here's an excerpt "I have wasted a few hours of time fooling around and " Reading the manual by the way " to try to find a way to turn it off which is why I ended up here in the first place! Thanks for the insults and just so you can all feel happy re your superior intillect and due to the condescending nature of the replies from those who deem themselves the guru's who should be a bit more underdstanding of the frustration of another user who has asked a question as the last resort, None of you need bother yourselves with replying further.
G.E.L. bapu G.E.L. hate the fact that you can't just clik on an X and close it out ... Some people here wish there was that X for some posts too. Seriously though G.E.L. I'm curious where you specifically read Multidock is an OPTION? Skylight is not an OPTION (AFAIK) just as Multidock is not an OPTION (AFAIK). I get that you (and three others) don't like it but calling it somthing it is NOT is not really an OPTION, IMHO. well if it's NOT an option what exactly is it, are you saying that this " function" has been placed into the program and i have no CHOICE but to use it wether i want to or not? because that is the crux of my initial question... complaint and cause of frustration ... I noticed other replies here feel the same way ... This is not the way to " serve your customers, by forcing them to relearn and assimilate something because the programmers think it's a great idea ( and perhaps for some it is, for me its not ) so if it's not an OPTION as you say, perhaps it should be?

But if you could just take the energy that you use to "fight it" by looking to find a way to do it the "Old Way", just try the new way. Most of us found it to be much better.
G.E.L. In previous versions double clicking would bting the now marker to the point reqired and highlighted the track no? then you could split at that point or proceed to do whatever you inteded to do from that point. when one becomes accustomed over a long period of usage its annoying to do something from a learned habit and find it does something else.
