Sonar X1 was a big change from 8.5, and I don't think that Cakewalk tried to keep it a secret for anyone.
So everyone who did upgrade should be prepared for some new functions and changes, and also spend some time to learn the new functions.........But this discussion is soooo 2011.
I like the mulidock ( D, Shift+D and Control+shift+arrows is the keys to get in the comfort sone) and my workflow is a lot better now.  ...and don't forget screensets!

Christ. Look, if you want help from people, here's a tip. Don't start angry and get angrier. The offer of help is still open if you can calm down and actually explain what you're trying to achieve.

I am here because after doing everything i could think of to get rid of this I thought I would come and ask for assistance from others, who might have found something that i couldn't ( I like many of the things in X1 ) this is one I don't and would have liked to have the option to turn it off ... I brief demo would not have shown this tendancy to automatically grab things into the dock and most probably would not have told me I can't choose not to use it either ... so thanks for SFA

Roger did you actually "Read" my post... here's an excerpt "I have wasted a few hours of time fooling around and " Reading the manual by the way " to try to find a way to turn it off which is why I ended up here in the first place!
Thanks for the insults and just so you can all feel happy re your superior intillect and due to the condescending nature of the replies from those who deem themselves the guru's who should be a bit more underdstanding of the frustration of another user who has asked a question as the last resort, None of you need bother yourselves with replying further.

Sorry , I didn't mean to insult you....

hate the fact that you can't just clik on an X and close it out ...

Some people here wish there was that X for some posts too.

Seriously though G.E.L. I'm curious where you specifically read Multidock is an OPTION? Skylight is not an OPTION (AFAIK) just as Multidock is not an OPTION (AFAIK).

I get that you (and three others) don't like it but calling it somthing it is NOT is not really an OPTION, IMHO.

well if it's NOT an option what exactly is it, are you saying that this " function" has been placed into the program and i have no CHOICE but to use it wether i want to or not? because that is the crux of my initial question... complaint and cause of frustration ... I noticed other replies here feel the same way ... This is not the way to " serve your customers, by forcing them to relearn and assimilate something because the programmers think it's a great idea ( and perhaps for some it is, for me its not ) so if it's not an OPTION as you say, perhaps it should be?

I do not use Multodock. At all. Probably never will. I have a 30" monitor (not bragging, just stating a fact). This feature/function is not in my way, causes me no consternation (or constipation) and therefore is a non-issue for me. BTW, I have a 17" laptop and when I run SONAR there I'm aware of it but I ignore it like an insolent child. If it was as big of a deal to me as it is to you I'd probably slink on out of here (without fanfare or drama) and go to the forum of one of the other DAWs I own and complain lean about all of it's features.

BTW, Really if you can't eliminate the Multidock you will leave Cakewalk for good? That is that straw that broke the camel's back for you. Really? Really? Really? Cest La Vie. I wish you well wherever you land.

But if you could just take the energy that you use to "fight it" by looking to find a way to do it the "Old Way", just try the new way. Most of us found it to be much better.
Steady, post like that get you labels..... I talk from experience.

@The OP. I've already stated it once but if you actually ask a question about how to do X you'll probably get half a dozen different ways from users that work differently to each other and you.

That may actually be more productive for you than picking fights with 95% of the forum users will be.

In previous versions double clicking would bting the now marker to the point reqired and highlighted the track no? then you could split at that point or proceed to do whatever you inteded to do from that point. when one becomes accustomed over a long period of usage its annoying to do something from a learned habit and find it does something else.

You can change the double click behavior under "Options">"click behavior".
(I hope that's the right word, because I don't have the English version).

Best,
Klaus

As I already said, there's no global off button for the multi-dock. However, it's not the case that you have to use it. I have a number of views set to not open in the multi-dock, and some others which I do have opening in the multi-dock. You can set this all up fairly easily in a dummy project which you can save as a template. Willing to discuss this more, but ONLY if you chill out and go and find some manners.

So sorry... but I don't have multiple monitors...if you read my posts I have read the manual, and I found nothing in it to close out the MD and thats why Im here! and now I am having to edure condescending and rediculo0us remarks from " professional tech geeks like you " ... I am first and foremost a musician not an engineer thats why I came here for answers that I couldn't find in the manual apparently because they are not there... thanks for the ' HELP "

Well, several people are offering help, but you're not taking anyone up on it. It's hard to see what else anyone can do.
