  • SOLVED : Bug in ACT MIDI Controller ?

Hi,

I try to map one AKAI APC 25 to Platinum and the ACT MIDI controller window seems to do what it should except with the R5 (Bank 1 - Rotaries line) button which remains unchanged : all buttons change their labels into ex : "100% L" but R5's label remains to "C" and refuses the tweaking.

Does anybody had the same issue or is this a bug in the soft ?

Thank you

Are you just using a preset for your Akai, or have you tweaked each knob using Act's learn process? It's possible the rotary in question became assigned to something else (via MIDI Learn, for example). If you are unfamiliar with this process, you may want to check out the videos on using ACT . In a nutshell, click on the "A" (act learn) button ( top right of act midi controller module) to make it blue, click in the cell correspondjng to the problematic rotary, tweak the rotary on your Akai until the display confirms the tweak has registered, and you're done. Click the "A" again and save your preset. If tweaking as above doesn't work it's likely a failed rotary on your Akai.

Hi,
Thanks for stopping by.

Actually I did this but it does not work. And I don't think the failure comes from the akai controller as the 5th rotary/knob on the controller registers fine with any R[nb] and all knobs fail to register in R5.

I don't follow your point here. I don't have your keyboard, but i do have both an M-audio Oxygen 61 and an (old) Akai MPD 16 that i am using under Act just fine. The oxygen has 9 faders (i am using 8 of them),and 8 rotaries and several buttons. I move the faders (for track volume) and the rotaries (for track pan) in banks of 8 tracks and the WAI display moves and updates correspondingly. I use the single fader on my akai mpd16 for control of my master fader - Rube Goldberg solution but works for me for live use. If this were a general bug, everyone's rotary 5 would be wonked- it has to be either an issue with your preset, or an issue with the specific rotary knob.

Actually I found what I was doing wrong : R5 is not R5 but S1 as the AKAI APC 25 has 2 rows of 4 knobs. So I guess it is a bug as R5 was the only rotary affected - R6, R7, R8 were fine, but I did create it by misconfiguring the soft. ^^

On the searching way I found this software which is really great for custom and old controller :

Thanks again for the logic, it helped me figure it out. ;)
