After hiding all controllers, if you accidentally hid the only regularly-used one, Note Velocity, it can not be retrieved.    This bug, I think, is new in Platinum.   It shows up as a grayed-out option. 
 
[edit] -- perhaps it is a limitation that there can be only one velocity line in the controller pane, no matter how many tracks?     This is crazy, since you get one line per controller per channel for any other unwanted controller view: accidentally use a different "channel" for CC-1 than you first used, and you now have two CC-1 lines, unrelated to each other.

I don't get how that could happen. There's always at least one lane displayed when the controller pane is open, and if it's showing something other than Velocity, you should always be able to choose Notes/Velocity in the dropdown. I can't reproduce a situation in which it's grayed out except when another lane is already showing velocity.
 
 

I suppose that is it:  the foolish controller pane shows countless CC1 lanes, countless CC11 lanes, but only ONE velocity lanes.  The thing needs a very big redesign.    For forty tracks, please don't show 160 controller lanes: ASK what is good.
