I would like to have the Grid display resolution set to a certain resolution (1/16th) and be able to zoom in while keeping that resolution. 
 
Is there any way that I can do that?

Turn off smart grid and set grid resolution to the desired value.

I'm turning off the smart grid by right clicking the note value and unchecking the "smart grid" option.  When I do that it automatically takes those grid lines away...

Is there a different way to turn off the smart grid?  I don't even want the snap to function on...  

In the Piano Roll View (PRV) there is another set of menus, the first is "View" ... under that one, the grid lines can be set independently of your snap setting, at the bottom, "Grid Resolution".   (if anyone knows how to change the color and weight of those lines, I'd like to know that .... they are close to invisible now)

The Grid Resolution in the PRV only effects that view.  I would like to see the 1/16th bar lines in the Track View when not using "snap to".

Not sure about the weight but you can customize the colors here-
preferences/ customization/colors .... and then grid rules and beat rules

   I believe it's in the display menu. Display/grid lines (or something like that)
