No need to apologize; I'm not defending the logic of it - just clarifying how it works. As far as I'm concerned all music-making with a mouse is a 'ridiculously fiddly way of working' compared to pressing the record button and just playing the part in real time from start to end.

 
Sadly I don't get to bring a drummer into my house to record my drum parts; and if I did, he wouldn't agree to keep re-doing them the way I would require. :)

I hear ya. Not saying my keyboard-entered drum parts are so fantastical, but it is fast, and I get pretty natural-sounding dynamics without too much effort. Mainly it's just more enjoyable.
