I'd like to restate the original question:  Does anyone know how to protect FX Chains like some of the ones that are provided with Platinum?

I have to create the locked chains in a different version of Platinum that is for internal use, not the general public. The FX Chains themselves are also slightly different. So at least for now, I don't know of any way for general users to protect them.

Thanks much for the clarification.  Like I originally said, I think that is a potentially great feature.

I'll put in a feature request.

Thanks again,
Paul

I think that would work to keep people from modifying or deleting an FX Chain.

I may give that a try.

Thanks,
Paul

If you think something is unique you might try using Waves Q-Clone to in principle make an IR from it. But if there are any options for thirdparty stuff there - don't know, it might be.

Others that use similar technique is Nebula, as I understand it - some kind of morph technology for many IR's so you also can emulate non-linear stuff.
I also have seen third party presets for Nebula, but if protected, don't know.

There have been lengthy threads at KVR over Bricasti Reverbs - wanting VST effect for those. But it seem to have some special modulation things going on that are hard to trace down what it is. So if somebody come up with a plugins chain that emulate that - could be really attractive.
There are IR's and they are also allowed by "mr Bricasti" himself knowing they can never do what his hardware is doing.

I think some of it was on topic....

KellerPJ, you could always make the FX Chain File read-only in the file system. This would enable someone to load up your FX chain and modify it, but they wouldn't be able to save over your original.
