• SONAR
  • Export all audio that arrives at one selected bus

I want to mixdown the audio that goes into a specific bus. I have done that before, but I cannot get it to work anymore. Whenever I select the desired bus and choose "Export", it says that the selection does not contain any audio. The time selection is set to the complete song.

What am I doing wrong?

Just to make that clear: Of course I know that I can select ALL tracks, and that will work. But that's obviously not the most comfortable way to achieve that rather simple goal. :)

If you to select all tracks, either solo the bus or select the bus from the pick list when the Source Category drop down is set to Buses in the Export dialog.

Thanks, but like I said: That's the tedious and uncomfortable way. Is there really no straight-forward way to achieve this?

Then don't select anything in the project and select the bus from the pick list when the Source Category drop down is set to Buses in the Export dialog

That's exactly the point: that does not work, like I explained in my first post. It says "the selection contains no audio". Which is not true.

It does not open the export dialog at all!

BTW, even if that did work (like it once used to), it's still EXTREMELY tedious because I cannot deselect all the pre-selected tracks with one click but have to go through the WHOLE list and deselect each item except the one single bus that I want to export.

Your first post indicated you made a selection

Don't select the bus. Don't select anything. Open the Export dialog and select the bus from the pick list when the Source Category drop down is set to Buses.

You can deselect all by using menu item Edit|Select|none (I have actually assigned this to a key combination)

Could this be related to the case where Sonar thinks there is no audio on a track when a VSTi has no MIDI clips? Some VSTs can generate audio without having MIDI clips (like Jamstix etc), but Sonar won't freeze it for instance because it thinks the track has no audio. If that is the case, you can put some dummy MIDI events at the start and end positions of the song.

Just a thought...
