I never really got into using loops and sounds but I was looking to how it all worked and today, it seems that the preview sounds don't make sound. The arrow turns to a blue stop box but no sound.
 
Any ideas what could cause this?

I don't preview sounds this way - I generally load up an instrument into the synth rack and work within that instrument to find a sound I wish to use.
 
Hopefully, some forum members with more experience with the Preview functionality will weigh in.

You have to choose an Audio Preview Bus to hear audio (click on the Media tab to view this option) .
