Each to their own  I personally find it very useful. Anything in particular that is causing you an issue? You can always undock views and either enable or disable floating for "old style" behaviour.

I don't know what you find so "toy" like about it. It's a staple of my workflow. It's great especially with multiple monitors. You can have your track view on one monitor, then your console, piano roll, browser, etc., on the other, able to scroll through all the views by just clicking the tab. I wouldn't want to work without it!

Unless I'm missing something, I hate it hate it hate it too.   I want something very simple: two views of the same track open at the same time.   I float one of them, ok.   I open the other one and float it, and where does it go?  As a tab in the previously floated window with the dreaded word MultiDock plastered on and taking up a line.   And only one of the the views open at a time.   I have 60 inches of view horizontally, but can they be used?  No, everything has to "DOCK" top or bottom.

Two views of the same track. OK what two views?

I felt bad hi-jacking this thread so opened a new one: three views, ideally: staff, prv, event list.

All of those views can open in their own windows independent of the multidock. Just select to undock and float the window. With staff view you can multiple windows showing individual staves.

Ah, got it, thank you.    When you "undock" a view, it "docks" to the other floater.  Then you have to mouse-drag that docked view away from that other dock.   ok.    At least it can be done!

No, I don't know what other dock you are talking about. I just grab the tab at the bottom of the multidock and drag it to where I want it. Keep in mind I am talking about Platinum. X3 was much the same but the multidock would try to put a view in it by default (thus the blue shade). If you didn't fully get the view out of the dock it would get stuck there.

I love the multi dock. So much so that I got a new 27" monitor and mostly only use one monitor now. I still have one to the right of my new monitor. But it's mostly just for reading now. Most all (95%) work is done on single monitor.

I really like the Skylight interface.
