  • Clip Color - What's Your Preference?

Just thought I'd bring this topic up again, being that we're using Sonar 2015 now.

I'm not a long time Sonar user so I'm not talking from my experience with Sonar, but I enjoy the way clips are colored in a number of other DAW's, along with how they used to be colored in Sonar. How many of you prefer the way clips were colored in the past? How many of you enjoy the way they are colored now?

Is there any chance of this coming back by default or as an option?

(For those ready to comment about Clip Properties, just don't. I'm not talking about workarounds, manually changing clips colors, etc.)

I believe that clip colors or any other colors are a personal preference.
Everyone has their own color preference.
What is great for you is an eye sore for another.
Good luck with your thread though.

Of course it's a personal preference, that's why the title says "What's Your Preference?".

I knew something looked different about that picture...  it's SONAR X1.  Not sure why you used that as an example?

FWIW, my clip colors are usually a little brighter than that, though certainly not day-glo/neon, and typically based on track strip color.

From my understanding Sonar X1 was the last version of Sonar to color clip backgrounds by default. Didn't Sonar X2 introduce the new colored waveform with a black background by default?

Yes I like the old clip colours thats why I still use Sonar X1. I have X2 and X3 but it takes too long to change each track clips colour.

The most important aspect of clip colours is clarity. I'm a fan of black waveform/coloured background, but I bit the bullet and embraced the X2/X3 style, and I've become used to it.

I think it helps if you change the clip pane background to a light grey. At first everything looks like a negative but as soon as you get used to it, it's all good.

I do tweak the colour palette, though. I would love it of those color presets could be edited.

I think what I don't like about the "color on color" scheme shown in X1 is that it just sort of looks faded to me.  I prefer more contrast, even color against black.

In the track view, where you set the colour, it only give that colour to the first edge, then dulls in down for the rest. I wish there was a control over how much it dulls. I would prefere it to be a light more colourful
