  • Snap is doing absolutely nothing in Platinum

This is a partial screenshot in Platinum to show my Snap settings.  Preferences are for default intensity (slightly left of center), etc.  .  I try to enter a quarter note and there is absolutely no "magnetic" behavior whatsoever.

In X3, I set Snap the same (1/4 note highlighted in blue, snap grid highlighted in blue, toggle to/by switch to "to."  I've verified snap preferences are set identically to how they are set in Platinum.  I carelessly add a MIDI quarter note near the third beat of the first measure, and the note snaps to 1:03:000 as expected.  I can move the note around, but if I get near a quarter note beat (any --:--:000), it aligns to it.

In other words, I'm pretty sure I know how to use Snap because what appears to be the identical setup in X3 and Platinum works in X3 but not in Platinum.  I searched the forum and see there are some Snap bugs, but none as serious as Snap not working altogether.  What might I be doing wrong?

I'm not seeing a screenshot and the link to that image doesn't work for me either.

I think I already fixed link - can someone confirm screenshot shows up for them?  It does for me.  Thanks.

As to the problem. Is it all projects or just one? All views? If you are in the PRV do you have different snap settings there?

Ok, I see it now. My firewall was blocking access to that website. I enabled it and now I can see it. Can you also post an image of your snap settings in the PRV if you are using it?

All projects.  I am in PRV.  If I go to staff view, I guess it snaps.  I mean, I can't enter a quarter note with quarter note Snap and create like a dotted 32nd note rest by entering it in the "wrong" location.  But I don't think that's possible even if Snap is turned off.  Thoughts?

Does this post relate to what you are seeing?

Although I can't reproduce the problem either way, I would suggest you disable Smart Grid (right-click the resolution and uncheck it) if you're wanting to explicitly set a resolution regardless of timeline zoom level.

Also, if working in the PRV, you need to make sure the PRV-specific snap is set as desired or is turned off if you want to use the global snap resolution.

I just want to make sure that you have snap to grid enabled in the PRV. If it is not, then snap is off no matter what the setting in the main snap to grid is.

Sorry, but that's not accurate. PRV-specific snap overrides global snap if enabled. Otherwise the global snap setting pertains in the PRV.
