  • Is there a way to reduce the new height of midi notes in PRV.

The subject asks it all...

I can see some benefit to the new vertical note size, but sometimes i need to see more note range than the new size permits...

Is there a way to control this?

I think this is the same as previous versions.

Thanks stickman...

I hadn't tried it yet... Only thinking about it seeing such large cartoon-like notes in PRV...

I am curious about this as well so went on a rampage searching for an answer (hard to google the new sonar stuff but I have the PDF on my laptop now).

Anyway... I'm not at my DAW and will try this when I do but there is Piano Roll View "Views" menu entry called "Fit MIDI Content" that seems to imply that it will cram all the notes into view...

"Fit MIDI Content. Fit all displayed MIDI content into the visible area of the Piano Roll view."

or maybe, again in the PRV "Views" menu "Grid Resolution"...

"Grid resolution. Use the submenu to specify the vertical grid resolution:"

I will of course check those out later but perhaps you needed an immediate answer so thought I'd toss out
those suggestions.

If we are stuck with that note height as the minimum that will be rather problematic. I do appreciate the larger notes for sure BUT not at the exclusion of the option of smaller note heights. If we are indeed stuck with the larger notes then a feature request will be forthcoming.

Hope you have been well, Keni. Glad to see you working. Cheers.

Edit: BTW... those entries are on page 2025 of the PDF Reference Guide and the PRV details/instructions start on 2024. THere are obviously other entries throughout the mammoth manual but that seems to be the bulk explanation.

You can easily go from this:

To this:

Just by clicking the relevant +/- buttons as indicated.

This has been the same through many versions of Sonar

Oops... I defer to Jonesey. Wasn't at the DAW otherwise I would have checked out the zoom buttons.

Sorry.

No worries Beep - sometimes the most obvious solution is right in front of your eyes.

It's called selective myopia

Thanks guys...

I'm not in front of my machine either... I didn't think the regular zoom tools woukd change this... Or what was the point if the supposed new feature it is touted as? Have they increased the maximum magnification?

It makes sense that the zoom would adjust this...

Btw... Congrats Beepster on receiving SPlat!

Im not working a whole lot (only have generator electricity for a few hours/day), but having SPlat is my yearly joy! ;-)

The Maximum and Minimum zooms have been changed. Before the minimum would produce barely visible slivers of notes, they don't appear as small now when fully zoomed out. Conversely fully zoomed in notes are now larger than previously.

"Ctrl" + up & down arrows quickly changes the resolution as well.
